Program Overview

Communicable diseases present a clear and present danger to us all, a fact now widely recognized like never before.

A unique opportunity has opened up to help build the External Relations department of the Asia Pacific Leaders’ Malaria Alliance (APLMA) secretariat.

Background

APLMA has a critical role in translating political commitments into actions; advancing the emerging regional health security agenda, and bringing together leaders from governments, the private sector and external financiers.

The External Relations department drives APLMA’s work on health financing and resource mobilization, partnerships with international organizations and corporations and communication with external stakeholders.

We demonstrate the case for malaria elimination and highlight the close links between elimination and other health and economic objectives; catalyze and incubate innovations to strengthen country and community systems; develop new health financing products in particular blended finance, and; engage new leaders from the business sector and beyond, committed to malaria elimination.

Role

You are an innovator and thrive in an environment that is open to new ideas, and with the agility and reach to put these into practice. You have a proven ability to work across sectors, including governments and the private sector.

Your background is less important than your attitude. We are looking for an entrepreneurial, fast-acting, responsible and passionate professional with experience in managing corporate communications. These traits and values must be evident and shine through in your approach to life and work.

Ideally, you have spent a few years out of university working for a strategy or management consultancy firm; a PR or media agency; a tech start-up, or maybe you took a year out and worked for an NGO. Whatever you did, you are proud of what you accomplished, and you can clearly articulate the role you played.

This position is made for you if you see yourself working in a senior role in third sector communications or external relations further down the road. For the right candidate, this position is a golden opportunity to learn the ropes from an intense, expandable role.

What does APLMA offer? Most importantly, APLMA enables you to play a role in defeating malaria Asia and the Pacific, and in doing so you will be part of history in the making. At APLMA you will directly work with the best people in the business, including colleagues, stakeholders and agencies. You will work with senior staff of organizations like the Asian Development Bank, the Global Fund and UNITAID, and with leading corporations on the M2030 partnership (www.m2030.org).

APLMA will support your creative ideas and innovative approaches. If you want to know more about APLMA and our work, check us out at www.aplma.org.
