“The Asia Pacific response to malaria now stands as a good example of countries working together to shoulder responsibility for the health security of their people.
But unless we succeed in stopping drug-resistance in its tracks – by eliminating malaria altogether in the region – it could potentially trigger a significant resurgence and related deaths worldwide, leading to serious economic impacts and immense human suffering.”
This video animation provides a stark example of the threat of malaria resurgence when political and financial commitment wane, and what could happen if our last line of resistance - artemisinin - loses its efficacy against the disease.
