M2030, an initiative launched by APLMA in 2018, recently announced a range of new partnerships and initiatives. M2030 is a movement that brings together businesses, consumers and health organisations in a unique partnership to end malaria in Asia by 2030. Business partners commit to mobilize funding, raise awareness and help sustain the political commitment towards this goal.
Shopee, a pioneering partner of M2030 recently announced the result of a fundraising campaign for M2030. The campaign, which ran in Singapore, Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, and the Philippines, enabled customers to join Shopee and M2030 in the fight against malaria. Through banner ads on their website, in-app games, and curated M2030 collections, consumers were informed about malaria elimination and offered to support the fight through purchases. The campaign mobilized US$30.000 in a few days, which will support malaria programs in the region implemented by Population Services International.
City Mart Holdings (CMHL) – the premier retail chain in Myanmar – also joined M2030 in July this year. To help raise awareness and funds for malaria elimination, CMHL launched M2030 campaigns in selected stores of City Mart Supermarkets, marketplace by City Mart, and Ocean Supercenters in Yangon, Mandalay and Naypyitaw. All store locations participating in the campaign have posters to educate shoppers about the importance of malaria elimination. Larger locations are airing an M2030 informational video on in-store TV systems. Stores are also selling donation cards at checkout registers, enabling customers to give directly to malaria elimination programs in Myanmar.
APLMA applauds M2030 partners and their support for ending malaria once and for all.
